The "ATLAS Aerospace" company invites all the volunteers to pass a course of space training in the simulators
of the Yuri Gagarin Russian State Scientific-Research and Test Center of Cosmonaut Training. You will acquire
actual skills on a space vehicle control by means of unique hardware and facilities and learn a lot about the
space vehicle's docking process. You also will be given fundamentals of space navigation.
More than two dozens of integrated and specialized simulators and trainers are used presently at the Gagarin
Cosmonaut Center for training cosmonauts within the framework of "Soyuz-TM" utilization program and
International Space Station.
The main simulators, trainers and stends are:
- TDK-7ST N1 and N2 integrated simulators used for training cosmonauts on "Soyuz-TM" space vehicle, its systems
and hardware control in the course of the space mission program implementation in standard, off-nominal and
emergency situations at all stages of the flight, as well as for mastering skills, how to follow and to handle
the flight procedures;
- "Don - 732" specialized simulator, which is used for a crew training on manual-mode control of the "Soyuz-TM"
space vehicle and its systems in the course of approach and docking to the orbital station;
- "Teleoperator" specialized simulator for mastering the approach remote-control skills, which main task is to
train crews on manual control of the "Progress" cargo vehicle while doing approach, berthing and fly-around,
docking to and undocking from the orbital station in the remote controlling mode in case of emergency and
off-nominal situations;
- Specialized simulator for training cosmonauts on the"Soyuz-TM" transport vehicle approach and docking to the
long-term orbital station and for maintaining the crew skills on manual control of the transport space vehicle
and its systems in the course of approach, rendezvous, fly-around, docking to/ undocking from the space
complex, foreseen by the program of the flight;
- "Vykhod" specialized trainer for training cosmonauts on managing the EVA-suit systems, as well as on
controlling its independent and on-board systems of life-support and air -locking in standard operational use
and in off-nominal situations;
- A complex of training facilities of the the ISS Russian segment modules - The RS ISS simulators and trainers
operate under conditions of a collective usage of computation devices, training monitoring and control
facilities, independent means of exterior visual situation imitation both autonomously and jointly, forming a
combined engineering complex. The remaining training facilities operate independently and have an information
link (possibility of link) with each other, as well with the informational systems of the Center outside of a
real time.
- Virtual-reality-based stand for ISS crew training - In the course of their training and depending on the
training stage cosmonauts and astronauts study the on-board systems' location and their design principles, ISS
RS structure and configuration, acquire skills of onboard systems control with the help of consoles and
control panels in regular and off-nominal modes.
- Astro-navigational functional-simulating stand - AFSS enables not only to generate and to project a stellar
sky, but also to imitate a flight dynamics for different manned space vehicles, providing a movement of
constellations in a field of view of windows with actual angular velocities. It is very effective means in
training crews on attitude control and navigating with the help of stars position and by means of
optical-and-visual instruments under conditions, which are close to the actual space flight.
- All the simulators and trainers, mentioned above are unique. You will never find something like that anywhere
else, except at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. All the cosmonauts, which have flown on board the
"Soyuz" space vehicles - both Russian and foreign ones, including the first space tourist Dennis Tito - have
passed the full training course just in these very simulators.
